Hello everyone

As always, we’ve had a busy and exciting month at the Poppy Community Garden in Augusta Park.

🌞 Summer Holiday Challenge Winner
A big
congratulations to Lachlan Gandy, the winner of our summer holiday challenge! Lachlan impressed us all by completing every part of the challenge – including a brilliant drawing of a superbug that makes sure flowers always have water, and a fantastic photo of a bee enjoying the echinacea. He’s now the proud owner of a £25 gift card – well done Lachlan!

🌿 Sensory Garden Progress
Work has begun on our new sensory garden! Fresh raised beds are being built and painted, and we’re incorporating the Queen’s Memorial area into a beautiful new flower bed. It’s already beginning to take shape, and we can’t wait for you to experience it when its finished next year

📺 In the Spotlight
Our very own Michael was recently on That’s TV Hampshire, sharing news about the sensory garden project. It’s wonderful to see the community garden reaching an even wider audience!

🧅 Planting Success
Our volunteers have been working their socks off – they’ve planted around 400 onion sets and hundreds of spring bulbs that will brighten up the garden in the months ahead. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped – your efforts will soon blossom into something spectacular.

🎃 Save the Date – Halloween Spooktacular
Mark your calendars! Our much-loved Halloween Spooktacular will be back on Saturday 1 November 2025. Expect fun, frights, and festivities for all ages. More details are on our Facebook page.

🌳 Community Connections
We were delighted to be invited to the opening of the Enham Trust Community Garden and Orchard last weekend. It was a wonderful chance to meet like-minded gardeners, share ideas, and do some networking. We’re already hatching exciting plans for joint projects next year – watch this space!

As always, thank you to everyone who visits, volunteers, and supports the Poppy Community Garden. Together, we’re growing not just flowers and vegetables, but community spirit too.

With gratitude and green fingers,

Vicki, Michael & Maureen
